The central nervous system controls the hypothalamus, which in turn controls the pituitary whose cells secrete human growth hormone (hGH). hGH stimulates the liver to produce IGF1. In turn, IGF1 stimulates development in a variety of tissues including muscle, cartilage, bone, liver, kidney and skin.
