* As of July 2004 Global HIV/AIDS Facts: There are more than 42 million HIV-infected people in the world; nearly 30 million of those are in Africa (mostly sub-Saharan Africa). 1 Approximately 14,000 new HIV infections occur daily around the world and more than 90% of these are in developing countries.
