Washington State Board of Pharmacy Stalls Innovative Biomed Comm Natural Medicine Provider

Science and innovative drug discovery are needed to combat an escalating number of disorders, 1 including autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and dental amalgam mercury syndrome (DAMS). Washington State’s Board of Pharmacy however is aggressively attacking one of the recognized innovator’s in the natural product industry 2 .

On February 7, 2006 a Cease and Desist order was given to Barbara Brewitt, Ph.D., M.Div., and Biomed Comm Inc, the company she founded a decade ago. Legal charges were amended March 15 and again corrected on May 14, 2006. The State fetters Biomed Comm at a time when the whole country is in need of new healthcare options. Rather than assist the Company, the Board of Pharmacy chose harmful actions to stop Brewitt’s work that raised the bar of scientific excellence in homeopathy. These Board of Pharmacy actions deny citizens healthcare options they demand. Health Choice and Freedom are fundamental rights.

Dr. Brewitt’s efforts to join biotechnology and natural medicine are now precipitously blocked. The Board of Pharmacy’s stated mission is to protect and improve people’s health, yet their actions contradict the ASD and DAMS communities’ needs for clinically proven safe and effective homeopathic approaches to healing 3. The litigation tactics being used against Dr. Brewitt and Biomed Comm place the consumer, Dr. Brewitt and Biomed Comm in great peril.

Currently, there appears to be a national increase in targeted litigations against innovative, acclaimed doctors providing safe and effective natural medicines. Washington State with the most extensive mandate to open the doors to natural healthcare is on the forefront of the litigation battlefield. Dr. Brewitt along with other Washington healthcare providers are uniting in a statewide effort to stop unlawful tactics and guarantee consumer choice
